Quilted Northern Bath Tissue - FAQs

I love Quilted Northern t.p. I buy a large double roll package about every month and a half to 2 months. My 6 y.o. usually puts the t.p. rolls away so I don’t see rolls from the new package until a few mornings ago. (Don’t worry. This isn't some embarrassing TMI bathroom story)

While I was half asleep and conceding to the call of nature, I reached over to get a nice, soft, fluffy handful of t.p. I picked up the roll and stopped. I thought the difference in the roll was either just my imagination or because I was half asleep. So I got one of the cardboard cores out of the recycling basket in the bathroom (Yes, I recycle the bathroom stuff, too) and put it up against the full roll. And, behold, the new rolls are about 1/2 inch narrower than the previous 2 ply. Even though the new rolls are 3 ply, the narrower roll makes me feel like I was totally scammed by the t.p. company. Turns out there is a reason and I found out on the butt wiping paper website. And…..bath tissue history. Go figure. *sigh*

One of those mommy moments!!!!

My six y.o. is exploring the world of words. She is alway saying something crazy. I don't really think she means to talk crazy, but it just comes out that way. I then have to correct her (only if she not speaking correctly) and explain why she can't use that word or this word and so on.

Well........

This morning on the way to work, Taryn a bad case of the jabber jaws. Ordinarily, I just listen to it. But this morning I was so tired. Another late night. Again. (Need to break the night owl habit). Anyway......

It was cold this morning with frost on the windows - the first frost, actually. So I was surprised to see a squirrel scampering across a patch of grass. " Taryn, look. A squirrel!" (We love to watch squirrels) She's gives a little gasp and says "Yeah, he's looking for his NUTS!". The mother in me thought it was so cute (angel on one shoulder), but the dirty minded woman (devil on the other shoulder) in me thought...well, you know....I started cracking up; while I was driving no less. Taryn started laughing too -one of those good hearty laughs. But then an awkward silence....(the kind where you would hear crickets)......

I was actually thinking this: Is Taryn laughing because I'm laughing at her innocent comment or did she make a cheesy "NUTS" joke? So I bravely asked why she was laughing. And this is what she said: "Mommy, I wasn't talking about the kind of nuts you eat!" "What kind of nuts were you talking about, Taryn?" "You know! Nuts, Nuts!"

OOOOMMMMMMMGGGGGG!!!!!!! I was speechless. I mean truly speechless. I didn't know what to say. I was just like, "Oh."

Later, when we were at the table, right before eating dinner, I teased her a little about it. I actually watched her cheeks turn the cutest shade of pink; Taryn was blushing. It was cute. I found out that she learned about, you know, from being a smart little girl.

Another mommy milestone.

So funny

So funny and a little embarrasing.

We are decorating the endcaps at work; so this evening I was looking for some clip art. Clip art of an old woman sittin' in a chair. I was telling my daughter about it. She is 6 1/2 and is learning about using the internet and her favorite thing to end words and phrases with is '.com'. She says, "Wouldn't it be cool if there was a website called oldwomen.com?" I was curious to see if there is really a website of that name. So.......I typed it into the address bar on the web browser.

Um, well....How do I say this nicely? There was a woman alright, and a part of a man and other things that, well, you know, 6 year olds really shouldn't be seeing. Luckily, so luckily, I closed the laptop before those waiting, curious 6 yr old eyes could see the 'action' that was taking place. I laughed; actually chuckled.

So, while looking in daughter's questioning eyes, I calmly told her we would not be adding '.com' to anything else.

Anybody wanna play Phonics 4 kids now?

The Great Gatsby

I attended the official kickoff to The Big Read funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. The kickoff at BG Public Library had a proclamation from the mayor pro tem (spelling?) designating October as The Big Read month. I'm excited to be reading the chosen book, The Great Gatsby.

Four students from WKU were at the kickoff - two guys and two girls. They acted out some lines from the book. It was very captivating. They also danced a few stops of the Charleston; there were a few volunteers who danced with them.

Complimentary copies of the book were given away tonight and will be throughout the month at different places around town. Although I'm pretty sure I read the book in high school (can't remember for sure, I am so excited to be reading it as an adult. Hopefully, I will be able to go to a few of the book discussions and see the movie at one of the library branches.

I will be blogging about my reading as I go along.

Bing

I love bing.com. Each day there is another breathtaking picture on the homepage. I go there everyday just to see the picture. Usually, there are 3 or 4 "hidden" boxes that you can mouse over and get more info about the people, places, or things in the picture. Great search engine. http://www.bing.com/

Here Kitty, Kitty!!

This really sucks............

Friday (the 25th), my friend found this kitten and I ended up with it. Such a cute little orange tabby. Named her Leeko. This little kitty loves Taryn and I so much, and we love her to death. But......I'M SO ALLERGIC!!!!!!! I want to keep her so bad. But as soon as I walk in the door, the sneezing starts. I'm so sad. Now I have the task of finding a home for her. Sniff, sniff......

It's been awhile

It's been a whole year!!!! My last blog was September '08. I didn't have a computer of my own to really do my blogging but NOW.... I'm back in bizzness (I love spelling it that way). I'm so excited that now I have a place to express myself.

I have been thru so much in the last year. I really wish I could've blogged it all but maybe I will do some backtracking. Can you do that in a blog? Oh yeah, I can; it's MY blog. Cool. :)
